AEROMONOCOQUE FOR BIKE

IN PURSUIT OF SPEED FROM CONCEPT TO REALIZATION  PART 2

By training my bike position on the V1 extensions and identifying some drawbacks in the design, I decided to create V2 with more sophisticated aerodynamics. For this project, it was decided to use a TT frame with mounts for extensions.

Based on the previous concept, I aimed to maximize the advantages of the FELT IA frame. I started removing the excess, reducing the frontal area, resulting in the central tunnel directing the airflow between the legs and the seat tube. The geometry of the side parts changed to help the torso and legs encounter less resistance from the incoming airflow. In 2023, I was impressed by prints4watts idea of a monobar, the addition of which allowed me to create something similar to the nose of a ship, slicing through the air instead of waves.
The hydration system also plays a significant role and is positioned to minimize the air pocket with negative pressure. After the initial tests, I realized that this position is much more comfortable for me compared to the stock, which, of course, allowed for higher performance in training segments. Overall, I am looking forward to spring to test and fine-tune the new setup.
